  • Conference on 'Aging: Spirituality and Health'
    In cooperation with the Council on Aging of Ottawa, the Ontario Multifaith Council, through its Southeast Regional Multifaith Committee, is co-sponsoring a conference on Aging: Spirituality and Health to be held in Ottawa on March 25. The aim of the conference is "to promote an exchange of views on the spiritual and health care issues facing seniors and address the challenges to healthy living."
    The keynote speaker is the Rev. Dr. Phyllis Smyth, Past President of the Canadian Association for Pastoral Practice and Education and former Director of Spiritual Care Services at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal. Attendees will be able to choose two of four workshops. Lunch is included in the cost which is $10 for seniors (65+) and $50 for others.  Only 100 spaces are available so registration before the March 20th deadline is recommended.  See the attached brochure for full details and the registration form

ESSAY CONTEST - 2010

The Ontario Multifaith Council on Spiritual and Religious care is inviting all college students registered in religious education in Ontario, to participate in the OMC Essay Contest – 2010.

TOPIC: Dr. Keith Meador in his article “Spiritual Care at the End of Life: What is it and Who Does it?” makes the statement that a ‘good death’ includes: “…adequate pain management and the time to make peace with one’s neighbour and with God while supported emotionally by family and friends.”
Comment on this statement from your own experience in Spiritual and Religious care.
PRIZES: 1ST - $1,000; 2ND - $ 500; 3RD - $ 250
